Kattevennen
Fancy indulging in greenery? Kattevennen is one of the six gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park, a natural park in Genk covering more than 57 km². You can hike, bike and relax with your family to your heart's content. In the middle of domain Kattevennen, a giant star sphere stands out: the Cosmodrome. In it you will experience a fascinating spectacle about space. In Kattevennen you will discover both nature and the universe! Skypark with Lightning Trap, be sure to take a look at the observation tower that gives a great view of the Kattevennen domain. This is where you take the most beautiful photos!
Tuben
Tubing is a fantastic experience for young and old alike. You slide down the mountain with a tire next to the
snowboard ramp off. The ramp is sprayed with water for faster sliding. Remember that
you can get a little wet.

LA BIOMISTA
On the foundations of the mining past and the old zoo of Zwartberg (Genk) evolves a project that takes you into the unique vision of artist Koen Vanmechelen and his life's work on identity, fertility & biocultural diversity. A garden of order and chaos, an arena of culture and nature.
Day of Cosmogolem on July 11
Inspired by Vanmechelen's Cosmogolem, the rights of the child take center stage.

Individual tour
with Cross Pollinator: Immerse yourself completely in LABIOMISTA and the
philosophy by artist Koen Vanmechelen.
Together with a cross-pollinator - a guide - you will set out through the park and become acquainted with Vanmechelen's work.
On Sundays at 2 p.m.
Nomadland
Combine your visit to LABIOMISTA with a trip to Nomadland. You can go there for snacks and drinks, in collaboration with the neighborhood.

Open studio
Twice a year (in 2022 on April 1 and November 6), the doors of "The Battery" are open. During this Open Studio you will get a unique insight into Koen Vanmechelen's workplace.
Studio Piet Stockmans
They used to mine the black gold here: coal. Now you'll find white gold at C-mine: the porcelain of ceramicist Piet Stockmans. Find out all about it on a tour of the former metal warehouse at C-mine. This is the living and working area of Studio Pieter Stockmans, the internationally renowned ceramicist who, together with his daughter Widukind, explores the limits of porcelain. Admire his installations, vases, jewelry, corporate gifts and exclusive custom dinnerware. Clients here include Alain Ducasse, Sergio Herman and Dom Pérignon!
Expo 'The Garden of Silence'
To designers, architects, artists and designers from Limburg or with Limburg roots
asked Piet Stockmans to design a film that one person could retreat into.
A shelter for a hermit. These designs will be on display.

Herkenrode Abbey
At one time Herkenrode was the richest women's abbey in the Low Countries. Today, the historic buildings have been beautifully restored. The Experience Center completely immerses you in the history of this unique site. But Abbey Site Herkenrode is more than just history.
It is also a 100-acre oasis of tranquility in a beautiful nature preserve. Around the abbey buildings, walking paths take you to De Wijers with its 1001 ponds.
In the Herb and Inspiration Garden, you become one with nature.
The Gardens of Dina Deferme
Beautiful country gardens that make you dream and enjoy: ¦designer Dina Deferme wrote several books and lets you enjoy her dream garden!
Open every Sunday in June, July and August from 1-6 p.m.
From May 1 to August 31, the garden can also be visited by appointment(!) on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the garden is closed.
